The sigma bands are standard-deviation envelopes drawn around VWAP, the dynamic support/resistance that forms the core of entry locations. The +1 sigma band maps to the Value Area High (VAH) and -1 sigma to the Value Area Low (VAL), and strong sessions add a 2nd or 3rd deviation. The bands are the dividing line between fade and follow: inside +/-1 sigma the market is balanced, so you fade the extremes back to the middle; once price accepts outside a band, the band flips to support/resistance on pullbacks and you follow the trend. Backtesting shows price respects and inflects sharply at the 1 sigma bands.
